Wine Enthusiast “Best Buy” Edition Confirms…
Riesling Means Great Value
Riesling wines from many parts of the world dominated the “100 Best Buys” list of the Wine Enthusiast’s November edition, with 14 selections—more than double those of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc which each had six.
Starting with the #2 top value, Chateau Ste. Michelle 2010 Dry Riesling from Columbia Valley in Washington, other Best Buy Rieslings came from the Mosel in Germany, South Australia, New York’s Finger Lakes, Canada’s Niagara Peninsula, California, Idaho, Oregon, and New Zealand. The wines are listed below with their rankings, numerical rating, and prices, which range from $9 to $15.
“This impressive showing of Rieslings from around the world confirms both the quality and value of Riesling wines,” said Jim Trezise, President of the International Riesling Foundation (IRF). “The range in styles and reflection of ‘terroir’ also reflects Riesling’s versatility and its natural affinity with many foods, as well as a great aperitif wine.”
